Last Wedding Photo

I had typed what I believed to be a fitting end to this series of photos. I ended my lesson/diatribe with talk about capturing joy, spirituality and transition; but technology got the best of me and forever lost my works. To technology and the "powers that be" I say very well. Instead let me say simply, let the images move you in what ever way you choose. If they move you at all then I've done my job as a photography as I have captured an emotion. If not then I should find another hobby...

2nd of 3 Wedding Photos

2nd photo from the wedding. A during the wedding shot... Posted by Picasa

1st of 3 Wedding Photos

As this is the first photos I doubt anyone will be reading what I have to so so I'm make it short. Basically I'm going to post three images, not necessarily the best ones I got either, from the wedding I attended last weekend. One will be just a photo of a specific part of the wedding (the communion you see above, the next will be a candid shot (before or during the wedding) and the last will be a staged photo. Hope you all enjoy.

Spring IS upon us...

Well the beginning of University of Washington's Spring quarter brought with it spring. It was a beautiful day that I couldn't help but put my books in the car and grab the camera. I think I got some great shots and wished that I would have brought my camera again today. That's it for now. I'll try and post another tomorrow.

Weddings

So photographing a wedding isn't as hard as I thought. I actually enjoyed the photography process during a wedding. It was interesting. Although I will say I need a flash, so my next 300 dollars will go to a prime flash from Olympus. That should help me take better pictures of people in low light situations. Unfortunately I had to bump up my ISO to 800 to get a decent shutter speed. The photos turned out mostly ok. Well that's it for now, I'll post some more wedding photos tomorrow...

Monastic

So just about everyday, or at least every day that I post to my blog, I wade through over 2,000 images to find just the right one to post. Today I decided not to go through each and every one but settle with something that caught my eye. This particular picture is of a monestary, I think, in Seattle on Capital Hill. Hope you all enjoy.
For those dedicated viewers you can look forward to some wedding photos in the near future. Tomorrow my brother and I are going to be doing some wedding photography for one of his friends. It will be a first for me, as I usually shy away from taking pictures of people. We'll see how the picture turn out and how I like it. If nothing else it will be a new experience. Anyways I must be going. More to come this weekend...

Homeward Bound

Here is a bit of aerial photography compliments of Horizon Airlines. That little mound there is Mount Ranier. I would have taken more pictures of say Tacoma or Seattle but FAA requires that all electronic devices be turned off and stowed during takeoff and landings. Oh well didn't plan on doing any photography on the plan anyways... Look forward to some talk about business prospects and pictures of Montana in the near future... Until then...

Clouds...Obviously

Unfortunately my photography skills have been lacking lately, just haven't been "feeling" it recently. Maybe it's because of finals and all that. Anyways thought I'd post a picture today, while I should be studying... Hope you enjoy, not my best work but it will do for now...

Lack of Updates

I apologize for the lack of updates recently but I've been busy studying for finals and all that jazz, ok I haven't done much studying but I need too. Anyhow, I don't think there will be any updates for a little while. I leave for my Spring Break trip on Friday and doubt I will have time, or will make time, to do an update while in Montana. So if you get really really bored you can check out my archived pictures here on my blog. Or you can check out my webpage, which will probably be redesigned or eliminated shortly, at http://www.raptimagery.com. And I always recommend listening to Tips from the Top Floor, a podcast that has been the greatest influence on my photography. You can find it in iTunes or go to the webpage and download directly; http://www.tipsfromthetopfloor.com. Until next time...

Macro

Well it looks like I will be expanding my lens selection here shortly. As some may know my birthday is comming up and for that birthday my mother is buying me the macro lens I've been wanting for a while now. This is one of the pictures that I took with my mother's macro lens, so I'm definately looking forward to getting my own and using it frequently.

Odd Glass Spheres

Taking a break from my paper for the time being to post to the blog. Here are some interesting spheres that line the streets of downtown Mountain View, CA. Well that's it for now, enjoy the photo and I'll be back tomorrow with another one...

B&W Airport

Allow me to open up my window for this one... I live insanely close to the Seattle Tacoma International Airport but until recently haven't taken any pictures. This is partially because I'm afraid the Department of Homeland Security is going to arrest me, and partially out of laziness. Regardless a few days ago I did take a few pictures on a nice sunny day. Results weren't all the spectacular due to the sun being in the WRONG place; which is why this photo is in black and white. Nevertheless here is one of the results. Hope you enjoy...
