Captivity (A day at the Woodland Park Zoo)
Unfortunately the sun didn't hold for my trip to the zoo today. After about two hours at the zoo it started to rain, and I think we can all agree that rain and cameras do not mix. However, before it started raining too bad I did get some good photos. I have uploaded those photos onto my webpage at: http://www.raptimagery.com/Captivity/. Hopefully you will enjoy the photos...

SeaPlane
Yesterday was simply a beautiful day. I couldn't resist spending as much time as possible outside. I spent my morning in fact at Gas Works Park in Seattle taking pictures of the SeaPlanes as they took off from Lake Union. It was a great day for photography. Hope to get some more photography done today and continue to work on the webpage so stay tuned...

Finally Some Changes
It has been sooo long since I've done anything to my webpage but I decided that I would attempt to resurect it. I found this nice, free, Flash program that would give my webpage a more "professional" look. Not only does it look good the webpages are EASY to make, as I can export them right out of Picasa. I have only had time to make a temporary main page, which basically has all the photos from the blog on there. I hope this weekend I'll have time to do more work on the webpage and maybe have something to show for it later this week. I do encourage people to take a look and provide feedback; the web address is http://www.raptimagery.com. Hope you enjoy the webpage and the photos...

Tulips!
Unfortunately the day that I went to the Tulip festival it was a pretty cloudy day. On the other hand the dark sky contrasts rather nicely with the bright color of the Tulips. All in all I'm pretty happy with this years photos of the Tulip festival, hopefully the weather will be nicer next year for some better photos. I have a few updating items to take care of but I will take care of that next post, and hopefully you won't have to wait as long for the next one. Till then enjoy the photos.

TFTTF Mug
Here's a good photo from the Skagit Valley Tulip festival in Northern Washington. Got quite a few good photos that I'll probably be posting some more later this week. In the meanwhile enjoy this photo and enjoy the Podcast that I swear by for all my Digital Photography needs: Tips from the Top Floor (http://www.tipsfromthetopfloor.com).

Tulips
I realize that this is not a tulip. Today, however, I will be attending the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, a yearly festival that lasts close to a month. Although it is a bit cloudy and probably will rain I still hope to get some good photos. I've been trying to find photos to post on the blog recently, as I haven't been doing my usual 50 or more photos a day. I've actually been going back into my "archives" and using the photos that would have been posted on my webpage if I would have updated it. Speaking of the webpage that has gone by the wayside it seems. I think I'm going to keep it up in the event that I do find someone to do the updating for me. That's about it for now though. Enjoy your day and leave a comment!

Fire!
First of all I am no obsessed with fire. Thought I would throw that out there before I explain what I did. So I recently got a new macro lens for the camera. This 35mm macro lens allows me to get VERY close to the subject to get very large high quality photos. So I did precisely that with this candle that I had. As I looked through the viewfinder I could literally feel the heat from the flame. It was good times and the shots I got were worth it. Hope you enjoy.
Addendum: No cameras, filters, lenses, or people were damaged or hurt in the making of this photo. My smoke alarm did however go off...

Hopelessly Devoted
Well it is official, I'm hopelessly devoted to blogging. The way I figure it as long as I get at least 2 visitors a day it is worth it (one of them is usually me updating the blog). Admittedly I don't get many more hits then 2 a day but I still, somehow, manage to justify the time that it takes to update. Anyways you probably could care less about my blog management...
As for this photo it was taken in Seattle at a fountain on Christmas Eve. It was only possible after lying my hand in the water with my camera sitting right on top of my hand. Fear not no cameras were damaged, that I know of, in the taking of this photo; though my hand did get wet and cold. Hope you enjoy...

Wipe Out
Here is one of those lucky timing photos. Took this in January during a trip to the Bay Area, it was taken with my Pansonic DMC FZ-5. For January it was a beautiful day. Much to my delight I may be in fact going back to the Bay Area here in the next few months. Hopefully I'll have the chance to take some photos. We'll see. Hope you enjoy the photo...

Lighthouse...
Good morning everyone. Here's a photo taken a while back during my trip out to Cape Flattery, the northern most point in Washington. I wish I would have gotten there earlier as it was was already close to sunset, so the sun was not cooperating very well. Hope you all enjoy the photo, I'll try and post some more soon.

Contextual
Figured I keep the blog flowing by adding another photo from the rally yesterday. Unfortunately yesterday I didn't have my telephoto handy so all I had was my medium to wide angle. Though I'm certainly not dissatisfied with the results a telephoto would have been nice, especially since it was nice enough of a day to get fast shutter speeds. Here, however, is the joy of wideangle shooting, context.

Marx and demonstrations
Well the section in my Concept of Power class concerning Marx is almost over, almost sadly. I've never been much for political theory, I enjoy the actual practice and study of events. Today's lecture as we were discussing Marx and his reaction to the third French Revolution had a demonstration making up the background noise. I found it quite fitting for a talk about revolution that people were just outside the window exercising thier freedom of assembly. After class however, I choose to not participate in the rally but rather take some photos. These are my first attempt at journalistic style photos. Hopefully everyone enjoy them. By the way if you couldn't figure it out from the signs (I know some are hard to read), the rally is concerning the Immigration Bill that is currently being debated in Congress in the United States. I shall keep my political views silent, as it is not my job to participate as a photographer.
